The Uttar Pradesh government launched ‘Mission Shakti’ programme for the security of women in the state. The launch was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and several young girls demonstrated techniques for self-defence at the event. Mission Shakti Abhiyan is for effective prevention of crimes occurring with women and girls, the Uttar Pradesh government is running a special mission of 6 months from the date of 17.10.2020, "Mission Shakti", in this campaign the state government for women safety, respect and independence A large number of programs are being conducted by 24 departments of the state. Publicity / Public awareness - In order to effectively implement various campaigns and schemes run by Uttar Pradesh Police in the direction of women safety and women empowerment, they are being properly promoted.
It has been tasked with building a bridge between the police and civil society, and to boost public trust in the police regarding women's issues. All of Mahila Samman Prakoshth's efforts are dedicated towards instituting women-friendly policing in Uttar Pradesh. Created through a G.O. dated 5th September 2014, the UP Police Mahila Samman Prakoshth is a unit within the police department dedicated to the security, dignity and empowerment of women and girls in the state. It has been tasked with building a bridge between the police and civil society, and to boost public trust in the police regarding women's issues. All of Mahila Samman Prakoshth's efforts are dedicated towards instituting women-friendly policing in Uttar Pradesh. Besides these flagship programs, Mahila Samman Prakoshth does a number of other day to day tasks for women empowerment eg attending to complaints of women and following up their applications with the police of the districts concerned, collecting data on crimes against women and making women-friendly policy recommendations to other government bodies. Uttar Pradesh Police Mahila Samman Prakoshth has also taken direct action in sensitive cases, such as helping to locate missing girls, protecting women from domestic violence, and fighting cyber harassment of women, amongst many others To strive towards enabling women to achieve equality and equal participation in all spheres of life by securing her due rights and entitlements through suitable policy formulation, legislative measures, effective enforcement of laws, implementation of schemes/policies and devising strategies for solution of specific problems/situations arising out of discrimination and atrocities against women.
